Why Go Here
Bania is a marine protected area beside the Kato Paphos waterfront, where conservation meets an urban swimming and diving setting. It was established as a freediving park, with protection intended to help marine life recover close to the city shore. Its interest is underwater rather than in a large land-based reserve: the protected sea forms part of the natural landscape alongside Paphos’s busy waterfront. Visitors interested in freediving or snorkelling should obtain current local guidance and choose conditions suited to their ability. The designation does not remove ordinary sea hazards or guarantee wildlife sightings. Check the relevant restrictions before entering the water or planning any boat activity, and leave marine life undisturbed.
