Why Go Here

Lara–Toxeftra protects a remote stretch of the Akamas coast and adjoining waters, with sandy beaches important for green and loggerhead turtles. Turtle conservation work has been carried out here since 1978, and the nesting landscape is central to the area’s character. A visit is a chance to appreciate the coast and understand why these beaches need protection, rather than expect an organised resort beach or a guaranteed turtle encounter. Keep well clear of marked nests and follow the current rules for access and activities. Seasonal restrictions apply, including controls intended to prevent disturbance on the nesting beaches. Plan the approach around current local conditions and leave the sand and wildlife undisturbed.
