Why Go Here

Akamas National Forest Park protects part of the wider peninsula landscape west of the villages on the Laona plateau. Its interest is in the meeting of Mediterranean vegetation, distinctive rock formations and the coast around Lara. Walking and nature study can be combined with the villages inland, where local information centres explain the landscape and its wildlife. Ineia’s Innia–Lara Turtle Museum is a useful separate stop for understanding the conservation work associated with the beaches. Plan a specific route and consult current forestry notices before travelling onto park roads: the Aspros Potamos–Toxeftra forest road is subject to a closure notice. The park is a large landscape to explore thoughtfully, rather than a single developed attraction at the map point.
