About NETTLECOMBE COURT

Nettlecombe Court sits in a sheltered valley of the Brendon Hills, below rounded wooded heights divided by deep combes. Great Park, enclosed in 1755, incorporates ancient wood pasture with both maiden and pollarded oaks. Expansion into South Park in 1792 involved the removal of Nettlecombe village. Sir John Trevelyan laid out the pleasure grounds from around 1828; through them runs a stone-edged watercourse, its features including a quartz cascade and bridges made with quartz and millstones.
