Why Go Here

Faros Kato Pafou protects the headland around the Paphos lighthouse and its coastal fringe. Open grassland, low scrub, rocky shore and small sandy stretches provide habitat within an otherwise developed part of the city. The area is particularly important for migrating birds, including waders along the coast and smaller birds using the inland vegetation to rest and feed. Its natural interest sits alongside Paphos’s archaeological landscape, with the lighthouse standing on the headland’s highest ground. Come for a coastal walk, birdwatching and the contrast between open land and the town around it. Parts of the protected area lie within the fenced archaeological site, so respect its separate visitor arrangements and avoid disturbing birds or vegetation.
