About Templer Way
Historic granite-transport route from Haytor via tramway, canal and estuary to Teignmouth. Distance: 18 miles. Terrain/difficulty: Mostly waymarked; easy-to-moderate overall in the Haytor-to-Teignmouth downhill direction, considerably more strenuous in reverse. Waymarking is absent on parts of the open moor; carry a map. The reverse Teignmouth-to-Haytor direction is substantially more strenuous. Start in the Haytor quarry area and follow the Templer Way towards Teignmouth. Use designated Haytor parking; public transport is useful for the linear return. Check current access, parking and any transport or managed-site charges before travelling.
